6 Largest Helium Producing Countries in the World

If you are interested in the elements, come and read through our article about the 6 largest helium producing countries in the world. Actually, helium is an extremely abundant chemical element in the world, yet there are only a few countries to produce almost the whole production of helium, just because they capture and store it.

Perhaps, when you think of helium, you remember balloons that we released with joy in our childhood. But as a matter of fact, helium is an important element. Why? Because it’s used in MRI scanners. That’s why the shortage of helium is sorrounded by panic across the world. Therefore it’s understandable, why panic broke out, when UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain decided to blockade Qatar, which is one of the largest helium producer in the world, Qatar simple shut down its helium plants.

As of 2020, there are 14 plants in the US in six states. The consumption of helium in the US was 40 million cubic meters, as it’s used in welding, laboratory applications, analytical applications, engineering, lifting gas, semiconductor manufacturing. Although the United States can produce large quantity of helium, its consumotion exceeds the domestic production, therefore it needs to import helium from Canada, Qatar, Portugal and Algeria. The largest helium producing companies are Yuma Energy Inc. (NYSE: YUMA), Ring Energy Inc. (NYSE:REI),  Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (NYSE: GTE), and Energy Fuels Inc. (NYSE:UUUU).

So, who are  the biggest helium producers in the world? Let’s check out together!
